Northumbria University Swim Team provides a welcoming and supportive environment for swimmers of all abilities. We offer a wide range of coached sessions, with tailored training to suit everyone. The team fosters a balance of competitive spirit and community feel, with many opportunities to represent the university at competitions, as well as attending weekly socials.
For those wanting to compete at a higher level, there is the chance to compete at BUCS Short Course, Long Course, Team Championships, as well as BUSL fixtures throughout the season. These events are centred around performance whilst strengthening team relationships and creating long-lasting memories.
Our team regularly host interactive social events, frequently mixing with other university sports clubs, creating an environment for our members to make lasting friendships. Alongside this, we hold enjoyable fundraisers for everyone to get involved with and support.
We frequently post updates and achievements on our social media accounts (@northumbriaswimming), giving you a glimpse of what our team is all about. This team is sure to give you a memorable university experience, allowing you to continue your swimming journey, or renew a previous love for the sport.
Swimming had an outstanding season in 2024/25, with the COMPETE Squad reaching the BUSL National Finals, as well as the BUCS Team Championship Finals (finishing 5th). The Club were awarded the Club of the Year award in the annual Northumbria Sport Awards in 2024/25 and were recognised natioanlly by being Shortlisted in the BUCS Club of the Year awards.

COMPETE Group 1 - £235 per person (Capacity 30)

COMPETE members can attend BUCS Short and Long Course Championships by self-funding their entries via BUCSplay. Participation in BUCS Team Championships (BUSL fixtures) included in membership.

2026/27 memberships will be available to purchase following attendance at the Taster and Squad Selection events during Big Week of Sport in September. Visit the Swimming stall at our Sports Fair on Wednesday 23rd September (taking place in Sport Central) to meet the committee and find out more information.
