BUCS

Team Northumbria Netball is firmly established in the BUCS roster as one of the best programmes around. From the 1st team’s first place and winning the Cup final in the Premier last year, through to the 2nds win and promotion to the A2 grade made up of mainly 1st teams, to 3rds 2nd placing shows all teams are improving. The next step is promotion for the lower teams to provide increasing competition for all the squads. Our focus is on developing a High Performance Environment where players take responsibility for their own skill development. Every day there are 1 hour skill sessions and every team has the opportunity for 2 trainings a week. Coaches make themselves available for input at each of the skill sessions and trainings. Depending on timetables players can look at extra S & C sessions which can be set with the respective trainers either supervised or set for them to complete. The programme continues to evolve and we are pleased to see the players respond so well to the changes that have been made in the 2016/17 University Season.

We have BUCS 1st Team players Chiara Semple, Iman Thomas and Tamsin Moala in the Team Northumbria NSL Team for the 2017 Season, and Rebecca Neil Team Northumbria NSL Training Partner. Our U21 programme also takes place in April and a number of our players are in this team also. Iman Thomas, Rebecca Thompson, Abbie LeBroq, Ellen Wright, Emma McGee, Rebecca Scott, Alex Gennie, Chloe Cubello, Katie Wakelin. Selected in the U19 team also Alex Glennie.

Internationally we are pleased to have Chiara Semple selected for England U21’s, and Seniors for the recent 2016 Jamaica Series.

This shows the development of players and the opportunities they have within the University.
