Football is one of Northumbria’s biggest sports with opportunities to play at any level! Football is also one of Northumbria’s 6 Focus sports with a great reputation, both the Men’s and Women’s 1st teams compete in a high level BUCS league.
There are many options for you get involved whether that’s playing competitively in BUCS, developing your skills or even just having a kick about with your mates.
Football offers:
- 4 (Men’s) BUCS Teams and 3 (Women’s) BUCS teams
- Development training sessions
- On campus 7 a-side and 11 a-side Football Leagues
- Social Sport sessions
It is important to note that Women’s Football and Futsal comes under the same banner and women’s membership includes Futsal too!
In terms of Futsal the Women have won BUCS gold a record 6 times and last year did one better completing the league and cup double. Again, breaking records becoming the first university to complete the Football and Futsal double double!
On top of all the fun you’ll have competing and training, you’ll enjoy a variety of social events organised by the club making it the perfect opportunity to play the sport you love while having a great time and making new friends.
Club costs:
Teams that compete in BUCS will have coached training sessions, access to strength and conditioning sessions, travel and use of playing kit included in their membership fee.

For those wanting to compete in BUCS you should attend a trial session, should you be successful you will be given a BUCS card. You should take this to reception to purchase your Football Club (BUCS) membership.
