To mark the start of this year’s European Championships, both students and staff have the opportunity to get into the Euros spirit by signing up to Northumbria’s seven-a-side intramural football tournament on Friday 14 June, hosted at Coach Lane Sports Ground.
The tournament will kick off at 10:00, with the eventual winners crowned champions by 18:00, ensuring plenty of time will remain for players to enjoy the opening ceremony and first game of the tournament, which is Germany vs Scotland.
The tournament will add to Northumbria’s established five, seven and eleven-a-side intramural leagues played during term time and offers a great way to stay active and see familiar faces over the summer.
Both team and individual sign-up opportunities are available, with team entry costing £30 and individuals just £5.
So, whether you feel like you should be on the plane to Germany, or simply enjoy the odd kick about with your friends, get involved on 14 June for what promises to be a footballing frenzy.
