Stars Shine Against Northumbria
Team Northumbria Travel To Loughborough Next Weekend

Team Northumbria tackle playoff bound Loughborough Lightning next weekend still searching for an elusive first away win of the season.

TeAroha Keenan’s side suffered a 64-47 defeat at Severn Stars last night - just weeks after trouncing the expansion franchise on Tyneside.

And runaway leaders Loughborough are unlikely to make things easy for TN as they look to maintain their form heading into the Final Fours.

Stars were keen to avenge a 61-39 loss at Sport Central last month but the hosts struggled to shake Keenan’s side early on.

TN were in the mix until the dying stages of the first half when a familiar wobble allowed the hosts to take control.

An 8-3 finish to the second quarter saw Stars take a 28-23 lead into the second half and the visitors trailed by as many as 13 towards the end of the third quarter.

Star shooter Ellie Cardwell was causing TN’s defence all kinds of problems in the circle as the hosts looked to extend their lead to 20.

And Stars completed the prefect revenge mission with the win that sentenced their rivals to a bottom two finish.

TN travel to Loughborough on Saturday needing to regroup and refocus if they are to get anything from what promises to be a tough ask against the NSL’s runaway leaders.
