Team Northumbria are still searching for an elusive first away win of the season after Manchester Thunder proved their Netball Superleague class.
The hosts had squeaked past struggling Celtic Dragons in their previous fixture to give TN hope heading into their Bank Holiday showdown.
But normal service was resumed as Thunder rediscovered their best form late on to power home and take a 56-47 win.
A thrilling third quarter ultimately decided a topsy turvy clash with both teams making a bid for glory after the break.
It was TN who took the initiative after going into half-time 26-19 down.
Keenan’s side came out for the second half firing on all cylinders and an 11-4 tear saw the visitors reduce the deficit to one goal.
But that was the scare Thunder needed to get their own game going - the former champions scoring nine unanswered goals to lead 40-30.
TN trailed 42-33 heading into the final quarter and despite a determined effort to restrict the hosts’ lead there was no way back for the Tynesiders.
Next up is one of the biggest games of the season as Sport Central hosts Celtic Dragons from 7.45pm this Friday.
The Welsh club are the only team yet to face TN in 2017 and the only team beneath Keenan’s side in the NSL table.
