Northumbria Hotshot Rowe Makes Super Start

Team Northumbria hotshot Georgia Rowe got her International Super Club campaign off to a flying start in New Zealand this weekend.

The Sport Central favourite came off the bench for the Celtic Flames in their tournament opener against Te Wananga o Raukawa Pulse.

And Rowe nailed 11/11 as the Welsh side rallied before going down 65-41 at the hands of the crack Kiwi outfit.

Flames were back in action 24 hours later - bagging a brilliant 68-41 win against Fiji's Marama Vou.

And Rowe returned another set of impressive shooting stats - hitting 13 of her 14 goal attempts off the bench.

Super Club is an international competition featuring eight teams from all over the world and makes its debut at the Trafalgar Centre, Nelson, this week.

The top three New Zealand teams from the ANZ Premiership (Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel, Te Wananga o Raukawa Pulse and SKYCITY Mystics) qualified for the event.

And the home sides were joined by Gauteng Jaguars (South Africa), NSWIS (Australia), Marama Vou, University of Trinidad & Tobago and the Flames.

All games are broadcast live on SKY Sport 4 and Rowe is back on action on Wednesday when the Flames tackle SKYCITY Mystics.

Wales goal shooter Chelsea Lewis and defender Nia Jones both joined Rowe in the Flames line-up. Lewis, now with Team Bath, and Jones, who has been concentrating on football, are both former Celtic Dragons players.

“We are very excited to be a part of this inaugural Super Club competition and competing against International club teams with such a variety of playing styles,” said head coach Trish Wilcox.

“This is an amazing opportunity for our players to challenge themselves against some of the best club and international players in the world.”
