Northumbria Karate is a fun and rewarding sport with a close community of passionate people. We welcome all abilities to join in our training sessions, whether you’re an experienced fighter or you have never practiced karate before.

Whilst we learn and improve at our weekly sessions, the club also have a vibrant social life where we plan activities, events and spontaneous trips. The club also compete in BUCS where medals and BUCS points for the university are up for grabs!

Karate is a combination of punching, kicking, knee strikes, elbow strikes and open-hand techniques. Karate itself translates to "empty hand" and is an intense physical art of self-defence and a proven way to develop self-control and discipline, excellent for managing stress.
