Basketball is open to all Northumbria University students at any level of experience. Our Basketball club boast a friendly, diverse and active environment with the desire to keep their outstanding reputation within BUCS & the university. As basketball is one of our Focus Sports, players benefit from a high level coaching team to help them develop their skills.
Basketball is another one of our biggest clubs at Northumbria with 7 teams (4x Mens & 3x Womens) entered to compete in BUCS in the 2025/26 season.
On top of all the fun you’ll have playing basketball, you’ll enjoy a variety of social events organised by the club making it the perfect opportunity to play the sport you love while having a great time and making new friends.

INTRAMURAL 3v3 Basketball Leagues - NEW FOR 2026/27!
Our new Basketball 3v3 Leagues are a great way to get involved with Basketball while at University, particularly if you'd like regularly competition without any travel. These student only leagues provide the perfect balance between social and competitive basketball, for students with any level of experience, ensuring you create life-long memories with your friends while also competing for your very own piece of Northumbria Sport silverware.
