Badminton is open to all Northumbria University students at any level of experience. Our Badminton club boast a friendly, diverse and active club with the desire to support club members whether you class yourself as a social player right through to those on the international circuit.
On top of all the fun you’ll have playing badminton, you’ll enjoy a variety of social events organised by the club making it the perfect opportunity to play the sport you love while having a great time and making new friends.
The club have four teams entered in to BUCS (Men's 1st, Men's 2nd, Women's 1st and Women's 2nd).
The Women's 1st team won their respective BUCS league this season, and were awarded the Varsity Performance of the Year award at the annual Northumbria Sport Awards for their superb win over Newcastle in Varsity 2024.

"Just PLAY"
Tuesdays 17:00-18:00 (Sport Central)
This programme is aimed at students who are interested in playing the sport without any commitment. The fun and engaging sessions are completely free to book on to, on a weekly basis, as a first come first served, via our app. There will be 30 spaces available each week.
"TRAIN"
Monday: 12:00 - 13:30 (Sport Central)
Thursday: 17:00 - 18:30 (Sport Central)
Wednesday: 11:00 - 13:00 (Sports Central)
This membership offers regular coached sessions, with some self-funded competitive opportunities.
“COMPETE”
Monday: 17:00-18:30 (Sport Central)
Thursday: 18:30-20:00 (Sports Central)
Wednesday: 11:00 - 13:00 (Sports Central) (only when no fixtures)
This membership offers regular coached sessions and includes opportunities to take part in BUCS fixtures. COMPETE memberships can only be purchased following successful squad selection during our Big Week of Sport.
Please note the 2024/25 season has now concluded. Information on membership prices and training times for 2025/26 season will appear here in due course.

Equipment can be provided by the club for new students where required. 2025/26 memberships will only be available to purchase following Big Week of Sport in September.
