Northumbria University’s Charlie Myers will focus on next month’s World University Games after narrowly missing out on a top 10 finish at the European Under 23 Championships in northern Poland.
The in-form pole vaulter qualified for the final in Bydgoszcz with a height of 5m25cm as he stepped up his summer season.
But Myers fell 5cm short of that mark in a competitive final to finish 11th as one of four athletes on 5m20cm.
The World University Games take place in Chinese Taipei next month and the Teessider is one of five Northumbria students heading the Far East.
