Swimming Lessons

Northumbria students can join our 10 week Swimming Lessons for novices or complete beginners. They run 3 times a year - 1 per semester.

£20 per person per semester

Swimming lessons are currently closed for semester 1. These will re-open in semester 2.

Quiet Hours

We run quiet hours in our swimming pool to help assist those who may struggle with the increased music levels in the pool. These times are as followed below:

Wednesday: 10:00 - 12:00

Saturday: 15:00 - 16:00

Sunday: 15:00 - 16:00

Pool Standards

The 25m, 6 lane pool has been constructed with a movable floor which enables the depth to be changed between 1.25-2 metres making it the perfect environment for both beginners and advanced swimmers alike. Sport Central also hosts regional and national swimming galas. The swimming pool also uses UV filtration which enables us to minimise the quantity of chemicals used thereby improving everyone’s swimming experience.

Please also note,

A minimum of 3 lanes out of 6 will always be available during our pool opening hours.
Infants under the age of five years, or who appear to be under five, are only admitted to the facility when accompanied by a parent or a responsible person who must be at least sixteen years of age on a one to one basis.
Children under the age of eight but older than four, are only admitted to the facility (swimming pool) when accompanied by a parent or a responsible person who must be at least sixteen years of age on a one to two basis.
Accompanying adults must not leave children under the age of eight unattended.
Sport Central reserves the right to change scheduled public sessions and lane allocation at short notice.

Sauna & Steam Room

Our Sauna and Steam Room are opening during the public pool hours and can be accessed with a Pay As You Go swimming session or is included in your Fitness Membership
