Northumbria University Boat Club (Rowing Team) are a friendly and sociable club, open to both seasoned rowers and new members who want to try their hand at a new sport or simply want to keep fit in great company. The team row out of Tyne Amateur Rowing Club in Newburn, approximately 30 minute bus ride or 15 minute drive. We have a lot of fun along the way working and playing hard.
We have thriving novice and intermediate squads who compete accross the UK, all year round, as well as a recreational squad for those who enjoy non competitive rowing. Our social calender provides a chance for all the club members to get to know eac hother off the water.
Our vision is to provide Northumbria University students with an inclusive rowing club that is supportive of all skills and abilities which fosters physical fitness, mental resillience and social well-being. We are fully inclusive, we welcome those who have not had the oppertunitiy to try the sport. We value and support; active rowing competition, promotion of the sport and competitive performance of our club members; broad based memberships and participation in the sport at all levels and ability. Our aim is to have fun, be super fit, be a great team and win medals.
Club memberships available in 2025/26:
TRAIN Rowing - £200 per person
Water based training takes place on Wednesdays and Sundays at Tyne Amateur Rowing Club in Newburn (NE15 8NL).
Students enquiring about joining the club in 2026/27 season can contact the Club Committee via email or instagram.
2026/27 memberships will be available to purchase following attendance at the Taster and Squad Selection events during Big Week of Sport in September. Visit the Rowing stall at our Sports Fair on Wednesday 23rd September (taking place in Sport Central) to meet the committee and find out more information.
