
Taking part in Northumbria Sport’s Daily Mile Challenge? Here are some of ideas of how you can complete your mile each day.
- Whether you are working or in uni lectures, go out on your lunch break for a walk to complete your mile.
- Join our FREE weekly organised walks that are running on Monday 3, 10 and 17 March which are approx. 1.7 miles around places around the city centre. Meeting outside of Sport Central at 12:15. Book your free space on the NU Sport App.
- Park your car further away or get off the bus or metro earlier to walk a bit further and clock up your mile.
- If you are doing a gym session, you can tot up your miles on the treadmill, bike or rower.
- Come along to our FREE weekly runs, where you can either run 3-3.5 miles or shorter run of no longer than 1.8 miles. These are running Thursday 27 February, 6 March, 13 March and 20 March. The meeting point is outside Sport Central at 12:15. You can book either the shorter or longer runs via the NU Sport App
- Take part in a local Park Run on a Saturday morning.
- Why not take an evening walk after your evening meal?
- Go along to a spin class. We run both Les Mills Sprint and Matrix Ride at Sport Central.
- Meeting your uni group or got a work meeting? Why not do a walking meeting to get your mile in.
- If you are feeling ambitious, why not swim a mile – that’s 64 lengths in Sport Central’s pool.
Do Your mile, Your way… but make sure you log it on Strava to be in with a chance of winning the daily, weekly and full challenge prizes.
