Northumbria University Sport has been accredited by the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) Dual Career programme, recognising its commitment to helping student-athletes balance academic study with elite sport.
Backed by Sport England, TASS supports young athletes to gain qualifications and develop beyond sport. Accreditation confirms that Northumbria offers the flexible academic policies and specialist services—such as physiotherapy, nutrition, psychology, and strength and conditioning—needed for athletes to succeed both on the field and in the classroom.
Becoming an Accredited Site is expected to help Northumbria attract more talented athletes and strengthen links with local sporting partners.
TASS National Director Guy Taylor said: “We’re delighted to be awarding TASS Dual Career Accreditation to colleges and universities across England. Dual career support is at the forefront of what TASS does… We hope that the academic flexibility policies put into place for the Accreditation will begin to develop an effective and lasting dual career structure within each institution.”
