Roofing Keep Out Northumbria

An early ‘gamble’ lead to Colin Stromsoy’s Team Northumbria suffering a 1-0 loss to Jarrow Roofing.

Conceding after only two minutes, the hosts failed to find a reply at Coach Lane.

“The guys were insistent that the goal was offside,” said Stromsoy.

“However, I told them they can’t gamble with offside traps and so it comes down to an individual error and it’s ended up costing us severely.

“When you give a team like Jarrow a goal, they’ve got the experience needed to hold on and spoil the game for us.

“Despite the initial error, it doesn’t change the fact we’ve dominated the game.

“We hit the post in the first half from a free kick and we had a number of good balls in the second half go across their goal - how on earth we haven’t scored, god only knows.

“But, unfortunately that has been the up and down nature of the start of our season.

“We won 2-0 on Saturday but it should have been 8-0. Now, when you’re playing poorer teams, you can get away with missing chances but when you’re playing teams with ability like Jarrow, you just can’t.”

This season TN have won three out of eight games played in the Northern League Division One, scoring seven goals.

“We know we have the ability to score goals but we’ve got to start actually scoring them,” added Stromsoy.

“It’s alright to know that we can but until you start it’s academic isn’t it.

“At the end of the day, they’re in there with three points and we’re in there with nothing.

“We’re still dealing with our inexperience in this league in a sense. We’ve dominated a lot of games already this season but still we’re not winning those games.

“We’ve got to turn possession into goals and goals into wins. Simple as that.”
