Five Northumbria University students have booked their place on the plane to Chinese Taipei later this summer as the build-up to the 2017 World University Summer Games gathers pace.
In-form pole vaulter Charlie Myers has been rewarded for a stunning start to his summer with a place in Britain’s athletics squad.
And four members of Northumbria’s women’s football squad will be battling it out for gold.
Emma Kelly, Ellie Dobson and Tyler Dodds have all made the British squad.
And Niamh McLaughlin will represent Ireland in the women’s football tournament.
The 2017 Games get underway in Taipei on August 19 and feature 11 days of action.
