Northumbria Sport celebrates #Volunteersweek

From the 1st-7th June Northumbria Sport will be joining the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO)'s #Volunteersweek to celebrate the fantastic work our volunteers and interns do throughout the year.

We will be kicking the week off by wishing our very own Intern and Volunteer Jasmine McNaught the very best of luck as she flies out to Zambia today as part of this years' Volunteer Zambia Project. Jas is one of six Northumbria students going to Zambia this summer to deliver a six week sport programme to community groups in Lusaka, Zambia. Jas is the first of our Northumbria students to go out to Zambia and will be followed by Molly Carter, Ellen Duke and Jack Preston in Group 2, and Claire Harper and Corey Hastings in Group 3. We can't wait to hear how everyone gets on this summer and we will be keeping up to date with the group on social media - follow @NUZambiaproject to see updates!

Our next stop is to visit the Northumbria Sport Academy, which has been delivering fun multi-sport activity holiday camps to children aged 7-12 years. Our coaches and volunteers have done a fantastic job keeping the children entertained and active throughout the week and they have got them involved in dodgeball, cricket, football, frisbee and swimming to name a few! The last day of May Half Term camp ends tomorrow and follow us on twitter @NUSportVol and facebook.com/volunteernorthumbriasport/ where will we celebrate and showcase our Sport Academy Volunteers for #Volunteersweek!

Keep up to date with us on social media this week where we will showcase different areas of the Northumbria Sport Student Development Programme and thank our fantastic interns and volunteers for their amazing achievements this year!
