After a 3-2 loss away to Durham City in the league cup, Colin Stromsoy and Team Northumbria are hoping to reboot with a weekend off before a tough Monday night fixture against Penrith.
Durham striker Brad Herd put three past TN’s Stefan Holden, despite Durham only having three shots on target the entire game.
Josh Bynoe got on the score sheet for the visitors before an own goal made it two for TN.
“Brad Herd is a very good player and you’ve got to give the guy credit,” said Stromsoy
“We had a lot more shots and dominated possession for large parts of the game but we just didn’t take our chances.
“Our back four had never played together before in any match and they did very well in what was a fairly hostile environment away from home.
“Of course we were very disappointed to lose, especially having beat Durham 2-0 in the Vase already this season.”
Monday sees TN take on Penrith - the first time the teams have met this season.
The last time the two teams met was in the 2016/17 FA Vase second qualifying round, with Penrith winning 4-2 on the day.
“We’ve got to rest and reflect this weekend,” continued Stromsoy.
“Unfortunately we’ve been very unlucky with injuries lately and we’ve got a few players out right now. But we’ll cope because we always do and I know we’ll give a good account of ourselves on Monday night.”
