M1 Rugby Union led the way and tomorrow sees Northumbria resume one of the biggest rivaliries in university sport when Loughborough send a slew of sides north.
What can only be described as a belting BUCS Wednesday includes standout fixtures against the East Midlanders across several sports.
First team clashes include Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Men’s and Women’s Football and Netball.
And there’s a chance to catch W1 Rugby Union and M1 Water Polo in action against Loughborough as Northumbria look to send the purple army home disappointed.
“This is the first of a series of focus BUCS weeks when we’re looking to make a real event of eveyrthing that’s good about student sport,” said Director Of Sport Colin Stromsoy.
“We want to raise the profile of our teams and ramp up the anticipation ahead of some of the biggest matches of the year.
“Loughborough are one of our fiercest rivals across a range of sports and we’d urge students and staff to come out and support our teams this Wednesday.”
Northumbria v Loughborough fixtures include:
M1 Basketball - Sport Central - 8pm
W1 Basketball - Sport Central - 6pm
M1 Football - Coach Lane - 5.30pm
W1 Football - Coach Lane - 3.30pm
Netball 1 - Sport Central - 6pm
M1 Water Polo - Sport Central - 2pm
