Northumbria University’s flying start to the new BUCS season gathered pace this week with a series of stunning wins carrying the black and reds to a 70% success rate.
In-form Lacrosse set the tone with two convincing victories - W1 crushing Leeds Beckett 24-0 before M1 defeated Sheffield Hallam 14-5.
Volleyball also bagged a clean sweep of wins as M1 and W1 claimed straight sets wins against Edinburgh before W2 defeated Huddersfield 3-0.
Edinburgh also fund themselves on the wrong end of results against W1 Basketball and M1 Waterpolo.
But the border raiders did score one win - a narrow 20-17 triumph against W1 Rugby Union in a repeat of the 2017 Championship final. Until yesterday no team had come close to defeating the runaway Northern Premier league leaders and Northumbria now know what they have to do to exact revenge later in the season.
This weekend there’s even more BUCS action with M1 Futsal hosting rivals Loughborough at Sport Central on Sunday (2pm ko).
