BUCS Round Up: Week 18

Fourteen fixtures fell foul of the Beast From The East as Team Northumbria’s latest BUCS fixture list was decimated by this week’s icy blast.

Six games did go ahead and M2 Badminton team had the short hop to Newcastle University just days after the Stan Calvert Cup.

The BUCS Northern 3B clash saw TN clinch a 5-3 – a result which secured the visitors’ place in a competitive league.

The first team to progress to the Championship Cup semi-finals was W1 Squash who defeated Cardiff Met in Wales.

Coach Rob Pearce said: “I’m very proud that we overcame a team that’s gone unbeaten all season. 4-0 (12-0) was a fantastic result.

“We have worked so hard and it’s great to see it all paying off.”

M1 Tennis will face Leeds Beckett in the final of the Northern Conference Cup after defeating Liverpool John Moores in the semis.

Captain Sam Archer will go into the final unbeaten this season and looking to cap his Northumbria career with silverware.
