The Championship Cup took centre stage this week with some huge knockout clashes demanding attention.
Both M1 and W1 Football were at home to Bath. In the men’s game despite an early lead, the team went into half-time at 2-2. After the break the hosts came out fighting and finished the game 4-2.
W1 Football beat Bath 5-1 to set up a clash against Leeds Beckett next week. Netball 1 had a 5am start and a long trek to Bath but it was not enough to faze them as they came away with a huge 71-47 win.
Another massive win came courtesy of W1 Rugby Union who beat Gloucestershire 72-0!
It was a close match for W1 Tennis who played tough opponents in Loughborough. The game ended 6-6 and went to a shootout which our girls won 2-1!
Finally, M1 Rugby League played at Kingston Park and took a 30-6 win over Loughborough. M2 Volleyball are also through to the semis of the Trophy after beating Glasgow 3-0.
M1 Squash had a phenomenal win in their Conference Cup semi-final. They played unbeaten opponents Hallam and in a fight until the death they finally won 3-2. They are now into next week’s final!
W2 Football also made the final of the Conference Cup after beating Bangor on penalties as did M2 Waterpolo who beat Durham 16-12.
We also had our NORTH Netball squad travel to London to take part in the SHOTS 2017 competition held in the Olympic Park’s Copperbox Arena. Twenty-one teams took part and our girls had amazing performances throughout the day which took them all the way to the final. But it didn’t stop there….they beat Oxford Brookes 8-1 in the final and were crowned the 2017 champions! Well done to the team and Coach Danielle Smith who have worked so hard all year for this!
