Northumbria University’s Oli Robinson insists the hosts will have to be at their table-topping best to rebuff in-form rivals Leeds Beckett this week.
Darren Fearn’s side host the Yorkshire side at Kingston Park from 6.30pm tomorrow.
And Robinson said: “At the end of the day, whoever comes up here we are looking to beat.
“Beckett are flying high so we need to play our game if we are going to come away with a win and keep top position.”
Northumbria landed another valuable five points by beating derby rivals Durham University 34-25 in last week’s Super Rugby showdown.
The hosts were on top for long periods of the game and, despite a late flurry from Durham, ran out comfortable victors on home soil.
The win helped them climb back to the summit of the Super Rugby table and Robinson added that confidence in the squad is at an all-time high.
“We deserved the Durham win,” he said. “We’re enjoying our attacking style of rugby and playing with smiles on our faces - it’s going really well.
“Durham had a bit of a crowd behind them, so there was quite an atmosphere. But we played them off the park and thoroughly enjoyed it.”
There were some new faces in the Northumbria ranks and Robinson thought everyone played their part.
“We all played well - I couldn’t pick one out – everyone stepped up,” he added. “Some lads out there made their debuts and we had a good match overall.”
In all seven of this season’s BUCS fixtures TN have scored enough tries to earn a bonus point.
“Every time we play we aim for five points,” added Robinson. “We have the belief in the team here to go out and score plenty of times.
“They’ll all count come the end of the season.”
