Northumbria University's Cheerleading and Dance Team, Northumbria Northstars, has developed a national reputation after successfully competing at Cheerleading National Championships up and down the country winning many titles, including Level 1 Grand champs at the University Nationals. We pride ourselves on being inclusive and offer a hardworking, dedicated and fun environment for all our athletes to enjoy. Alongside our range of competitive cheerleading teams, we offer a recreational team. This team is suitable for beginners who just want to learn more about the sport and develop new or existing skills as well as athletes who still want to have the opportunity to perform but not compete. Whether you come from a cheerleading, dance or gymnastics background, cheerleading is a sport which will allow you to develop skills alongside creating a routine that you are proud off.
As well as cheerleading teams, Northumbria Northstars also offer 4 amazing dance teams: Lyrical, Jazz, Pom and hip hop. These teams will travel to the same competitions as our cheerleading teams and have created an amazing reputation over the past few years, securing many titles and trophies at National competitions.
On top of getting the opportunity to compete up and down the country, training alongside your best friends and learning new skills northstars also fundraise throughout the year for charities such as Macmillian, YoungMinds UK, and more. You will also be able to enjoy a variety of social events organised by the club allowing amazing friendships to be built. You will compete in a sport that you love, whilst allowing you to bond with your team mates outside of training and make new friends.
