We are pleased to announce that the Sport Central Gym and Swimming Pool will reopen on Wednesday 2 December 2020 and are excited to welcome members back.
Gym and Pool sessions will need to be pre-booked. We are continuing to use our temporary email booking system via the Northumbria Sport App where you will be able to book a session for the following day.
Exercise Classes
In line with the Tier 3 restrictions, we will not be delivering any face-face exercise classes. A timetable of online classes will be available through the Sport Central Fitness Members Facebook Group, which is open for all members to join. Click here.

Before booking a session and returning to Sport Central please take the time to familiarise yourself with our ‘Keeping Safe’ advice and guidance.
Temporary Entrance to Sport Central
Due to the Asymptomatic Student COVID testing site based on the Sport Central ground floor, a temporary entrance for gym and pool users will be in action between the 2 and 9 of December. Situated along Northumberland Road near to the Swimming Pool glass windows, it will be easily identified by a small gazebo and flags.
Whilst the test centre is in operation bag searches will be conducted upon entry.
Memberships and Refunds
Firstly, we would like to thank members for their ongoing patience with regards to refunds from earlier in the year. As you are aware, we will issue these as soon as we have access again to our booking management system.
Refunds for members affected by the current National Lockdown closure will be automatically issued over the upcoming weeks.
Annual and Salary Deduction Memberships will continue automatically from the 2 December.
