Goalball Gold Medal for Lois

Northumbria Sport Scholar, Lois Turner won a gold medal in the Goalball Women’s Champions League 2024.

Lois Turner – a sport scholar here at Northumbria won gold in the European Goalball Club Association (EGCA) Women’s Champions League 2024 earlier this month.

Turner was one of several British players to compete at the games held in Blankenberge, Belgium at the beginning of July where she secured gold. Although British, she is registered for the German Club Füchse Berlin.

We are enormously proud of Lois’s achievements and agree with Goalball UK’s comments explaining:: “Lois and Kali were fantastic additions to the Füchse Berlin side, contributing towards the team’s overall fantastic defence as the team overall only conceded 2 goals in the pool stage.”

In addition to the Women’s Champions League, Turner has competed in several UK competitions whereshe has participated in the highest level of the sport, taking part in the Goalfix Cup, held this year at Worchester University.

What’s next for Lois?

Following the Champions League win, Lois and Füchse Berlin are looking forward to participating in the 2025 Club World Championship, where they will battle out against the top world clubs.
