Northumbria University Sport Experience Days
Available October - June
This package is designed to give young people a genuine taste of what it is like to be a student athlete. The day is most importantly fun, but also active and educational. Young people will leave with a greater understanding of athletic training to improve performance, what sporting opportunities are available at Northumbria University, what different job roles are available in sport, and how to support their own athletic development and apply it to their studies and own training. Experiences can be tailored to be specific to a particular sport, or study topic.
The Northumbria University Sport Experience Day includes:
Fitness testing and training; Sport session(s); Northumbria Sport talk and/or workshop; and Sport Central Tour.
The experience can last up to 3 and a half hours but can be tailored based on your requirements. We advise those wishing to take out this package to provide as much notice as possible as the availability of facilities and coaches will need to be confirmed.
This package is suitable for groups of between 5 and 30 young people aged between 12 (Year 7) and 18 (Year 13). We may be able to accommodate larger groups at additional cost.

Watch Live Sport
Northumbria University hosts an abundance of top level university sport. Throughout the academic year, Northumbria will compete against other universities across a number of sports showcasing great talent, dedication and teamwork. A number Northumbria teams play their home fixtures at Sport Central, which boasts modern sporting facilities with tiered seating. We are able to arrange and welcome school and college groups to attend and watch fixtures for free, including sports such as basketball, futsal, volleyball, badminton, and netball. Fixtures are mostly played on Wednesdays, with some weekend fixtures also.
In addition to fixtures across a number sports hosted at Sport Central, our successful Rugby Union and Rugby League teams play their home fixtures at Newcastle Falcon’s Kingston Park Stadium. Once again we are able to arrange and welcome school and college groups to attend and watch fixtures for free. As fixtures are released they will be displayed below.
If your school/college has a group of pupils who would enjoy and benefit from watching top level university sport live, please contact Sport Engagement Manager David Jones d.r.jones@northumbria.ac.uk.
