Part Time Sports Coaches
We are currently reviewing our coaching provision for the 2025/26 season, and will update this page with any new coaching vacancies that become available ahead of September.
Current provisional vacancies:

Athletics – We are seeking a level 1 coach to act as an Assistant Coach to our growing Athletics Club. Experience of coaching field events would be beneficial but not essential. The club use Track Passes at Gateshead Stadium to train on Mondays and Wednesdays. Club members regularly compete in local competitions, as well as BUCS Indoor and Outdoor Championships.

Football – We regularly have opportunities for level 1 Football coaches within our large Football programme. Please get in touch if you are interested in delivering Football coaching predominantly on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Coach Lane (NE7 7XA), with some Wednesday day time delivery for fixtures.

Futsal Men – We are seeking a level 2 coach (or level 1 coach willing to upskill to level 2 in the next 12 months) to deliver coaching within our competitive Men’s Futsal programme. Our 1st team compete in BUCS Premier North, and our 2nd team will be aiming to gain promotion out of BUCS Northern 2B this season. Joint 1st and 2nd team training takes place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in our exceptional Sport Central facility, in Newcastle city centre (NE1 8ST). Fixtures take place on Sundays, with home fixtures also taking place in Sport Central.

Hockey – We are seeking a level 2 coach (equivalent) to deliver coaching within our competitive Hockey programme. Joint M1/M2 training takes place on Monday and Friday evenings, with joint W1/W2 team training taking place on Monday and Thursday evenings. We have a new Hockey ATp pitch at Coach Lane (NE77XA). Fixtures take place on Wednesdays at Coach Lane.

Karate - We are seeking an experienced Karate coach, with level 2 equivalent coaching qualification to deliver coaching within our growing Karate programme. Club training takes place on Monday and Wednesday evenings, as well as Saturday lunchtimes. Student members regularly participate in local competitions and work towards the BUCS Karate Championships.

Netball – We have an opportunity for a level 1 Netball coach to support our large Netball programme. Please get in touch if you are interested in delivering Netball coaching on Monday evenings and early Friday mornings, with some Wednesday day time delivery for fixtures.

Tennis - We are seeking a Tennis Coach with minimum level 1 qualification to deliver coaching within our growing Tennis programme. Our Tennis Club have four teams in BUCS, with both 1st teams competing in Tier 3 and both 2nd teams competing in Tier 5 (Fast4 format). The successful candidate will deliver coaching to our “TRAIN” tennis programme which includes our 2nd teams. The group train 3 times a week at Jesmond Lawn Tennis Club (NE2 2TD)

Ultimate - We are seeking a level 1 Ultimate coach to deliver to our growing Ultimate Club who have 1 Outdoor team entered in to BUCS Northern 2A. The club enjoy 3 training sessions per week, with an indoor session at Sport Central on Monday evenings, and two outdoor sessions at Coach Lane, one on a Friday evening and one on a Saturday afternoon.
We usually seek Level 2 qualified coaches where possible within our programme, however a Level 1 qualified coach who is willing to work towards a Level 2 during the 2025/26 season may also be considered. All coaches must also hold a current first aid qualification - if not currently held coach must agree to attend one of our First Aid Courses in September or October.

Level 7 Football Referee Course
Northumbria Sport are looking to recruit referees for this upcoming season. We will provide students with a fully funded Level 7 course, which will enable students to earn money both within the University League and within the community.
