Northumbria Universities Basketball programme work closely with the Newcastle Eagles WBBL team, developing students to give them opportunities to progress into the professional game.
We are a leading institution for student Basketball, competing in Northern 1A of the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) league. The team also compete in the National Trophy alongside the league. Last season, the Women’s team finished 6th in the BUCS Premier North League and made it to the sweet sixteen of the national championships.
Players benefit from a programme that rivals a professional team, with high level coaching, team-based practices, individual skill development, strength & conditioning, performance analysis and mental wellness.
We pride ourselves on our highly experienced coaching team led by Chris Bunten, Northumbria Alumni and over 16-years’ experience as a multiple championship and commonwealth games silver medallist winning pro.
