Northumbria Universities Basketball programme work closely with the Newcastle Eagles BBL team, developing students to give them opportunities to progress into the professional game. We also offer our students the option to play alongside our BUCS team with Newcastle Universities Division 1 side on a weekend.
We are a leading institution for student Basketball, competing in the top UK British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) league and cup. Last season, the Men’s team finished 5th in the BUCS Premier North League and made it to the sweet sixteen of the national championships.
Players benefit from a programme that rivals a professional team, with high level coaching, team-based practices, individual skill development, strength & conditioning, performance analysis and mental wellness.
We pride ourselves on our highly experienced coaching team led by Drew Lasker, Northumbria Alumni and over 16-years’ experience as a multiple championship winning pro.
