Introducing Northumbria’s New Padel Club!

Ready to try something new, fast-paced, and seriously fun? Padel is one of the world’s fastest-growing sports—and now it’s arriving at Northumbria!

What is Padel?
Padel is a dynamic mix of tennis and squash, played in doubles on an enclosed court about one-third the size of a tennis court. The walls are part of the game (just like in squash) so expect fast rallies, clever angles, and loads of action! It’s easy to pick up, super social, and perfect for all ability levels.

How do you play?

  • Teams of two compete against each other.
  • You serve underarm and play the ball off the walls.
  • The scoring system is the same as tennis.
  • Quick reflexes and teamwork are key!

What equipment do you need?

  • Padel racket (smaller and solid, unlike a tennis racket).
  • Padel balls (similar to tennis balls but slightly less bouncy).
  • Comfortable sportswear and trainers with good grip.
Don’t worry if you don’t have your own gear - equipment can be provided or borrowed at sessions!
