There was an outstanding effort among all three athletes, showcasing skill, drive and determination at the tournament resulting in multiple medals.

The results:

Kyriakos Timotheou - GOLD

James Wordsworth - BRONZE

Matthew Adeyemi - BRONZE (first ever competition)

A massive congratulations to all three of these studentsWho competed against some of the best athletes across the UK showing their ability to succeed when under pressure.

The team is now aiming to get Kyriakos qualified for the European University games, this July. Northumbria’s Taekwondo Coach Simone Abley said: “I’m really proud of the way the club has formed, especially as we only started in September. I’m looking forward to watching the members grow in the future.”

These athletes act as true inspirations as the Taekwondo Club was only formed this year. To achieve such incredible success in such a short amount of time showcases the commitment to their training, mindset and ability to rise to a challenge.

This is just the start for Northumbria Taekwondo and it is exciting to see what the future holds for the team.
