Rising Boxing Star, Divine Omojor sets his sights on Gold at the BUCS Boxing Championships

This weekend sees Divine along with 12 other Northumbria students compete at the BUCS Boxing Championships in Portsmouth.

Northumbria Scholar, Divine Omojor is ready take on this weekend’s BUCS Boxing Championships following a successful run at recent boxing events across the country. Here at Northumbria Sport, we look back at Divine’s success over the past few months.  

Divine is quickly establishing himself as one of the most promising student athletes in the world of boxing. A dedicated competitor with a remarkable career trajectory, Divine, who currently competes at a cruiserweight of 86kg, is making waves both in the ring and at Northumbria University. With a blend of natural talent, determination, and great work ethic, Divine’s boxing achievements speak volumes about his potential.

Boxing for England Against the World Number 1

One of the most notable milestones in Divine’s promising career was when he had the privilege of boxing for England against the World Number 1 in his weight class. Stepping into the ring with one of the best in the world is no small feat, but Divine’s performance was a testament to his skills and resilience. The experience not only gave him invaluable exposure to international competition but also solidified his status as an athlete to watch.

Winning the Prestigious Haringey Box Cup

Divine’s victory at the Haringey Box Cup in DATE further cemented his place as a standout talent. Divine’s win came in spectacular fashion—a first-round stoppage, which displayed his ability to dominate his opponents and seize the moment when the opportunity arises. This win marked a pivotal point in his career, boosting his confidence and strengthened his reputation as a force to be reckoned with.

Youth National Title

Another key achievement for Divine’s was his triumph at the National Association of Boys and Girls Clubs (NABGC) Youth National Title. The victory showcased his versatility and consistency as a boxer, as he not only competed with the best young talent across the country but also emerged victorious, further highlighting his growing prowess in the sport.

Receiving His White Vest at the Roaring Lions Event

Divine’s journey took another significant step forward when he was invited to the Roaring Lions event at Team GB, where he received his White Vest. This recognition is reserved for athletes who are considered to have the potential to represent Great Britain in international competition.
