Northumbria Sport awarded the BUCS Physical Activity Excellence Award

Northumbria Sport are pleased to announce they have been awarded the BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) Physical Activity Excellence Award along with six other UK institutions.

Northumbria was recognised for demonstrating good practice in increasing physical activity engagement across its student population.

Northumbria Sport aims to have a positive impact on students’ physical and mental health as well as enhancing their student experience by providing an inclusive sporting programme.

On achieving the award, Head of Sport, Daryl Dixon said: “I am extremely proud that Northumbria have been recognised for our success in getting students active. This award is testament to the effort and commitment of all the staff with the Sport team and of course our passionate team of volunteers and interns." 

Director of Campus Experience, David Jackson said: "Sport and physical activity plays a key role in the wellbeing of our students and without a doubt enhances their experience whilst studying at Northumbria. I would like to congratulate the Sport team on achieving this award, it’s fantastic to see their continuous efforts be rewarded."
