Work has started on the installation of a new 3G pitch at Coach Lane Sports Centre, Northumbria University. Based just 3 miles out of Newcastle City Centre, Coach Lane is home to Northumbria Sport’s outdoor pitches and plays host to i2i International Soccer Academy.
The main floodlit grass pitch with 176 seats will be converted to an all-weather multisport 3G accommodating football, rugby union and league, american football, and lacrosse.
The high-quality, UK manufactured pitch was designed and will be constructed and installed by SIS Pitches, the UK’s largest one-stop shop for sports pitches. Due to be completed ready for September 2022, the pitch will be tested to the highest standards, FIFA quality for Football and World Rugby regulations for Rugby.
The development of the new 3G pitch complements the existing facilities available at the Coach Lane site including indoor Sports Hall, Multipurpose Conference Room, Strength & Conditioning Suite and externally, the existing dedicated football 3G pitch and four grass pitches.
