Northumbria University’s climbing wall is now open once again for students to use from 30 October, with the 12-metre wall accommodating climbers of all experiences, right here at Sport Central!
Boasting 10 different routes, the wall allows both novices and more experienced climbers to enjoy a 90-minute session and put their climbing skills to the test. All routes are auto belayed which means it is as accessible as possible for students to simply come along, clip-in and climb. The 90-minute sessions involve a 30-minute induction, followed by an hour-long climb. Sessions are supervised by Sport Facility staff at all times, ensuring a safe session for all.

Prices:
- Member price = £5
- Non-member price = £10
Opening Hours:
Monday – Friday
- 10:00-11:30
- 14:30-16:00
- 19:00-20:30 (excluding Thursdays)
Included in the price is the option to use climbing shoes provided by Northumbria Sport – with a range of sizes available. Climbers who own their own climbing shoes are welcome to wear them, or alternatively regular trainers will also do the job.
Before its opening, Northumbria Students’ Union’s climbing society were invited along for a session on the wall to try it out and provide feedback. Having given it their seal of approval, the society will now partake in weekly sessions on the climbing wall.
