We could not think of a better place to start Adventure 2018/19 than with Britain’s official favourite walk, Helvellyn. Despite the breath-taking views over the Lake District, Helvellyn is not for the feint hearted however. At 3,117ft it is England’s third highest peak, and the ascent via Striding Edge provides an extra challenge to your usual walk. Overall, the hike proves a stern physical test, with steep sections and some scrambling over Striding Edge. However, the walk is Britain’s favourite for a reason and anyone that takes part will have an excellent day.

Start hiking Helvellyn @ 10:00
Finnish hike @ approx 15:00
Arrive back to Northumbria University @ approx 19:00
