Casual Paid Positions

Football Referee

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with a passion for football to referee within our football leagues. Our student only leagues provide the perfect balance between social and competitive football, for students with any level of experience. All of our teams are affiliated with Northumberland FA and as paid referee you will be required to hold a FA referee qualification.

Games Include:  

 5a side - Mondays, Sport Central 6.30-10pm (Kick off times will vary for each team on a weekly basis) 7 a side - Tuesdays, Coach Lane 3G 6-10pm (Kick off times will vary for each team on a weekly basis) 11 a side - Wednesdays, Coach Lane Grass Pitches 11-4pm (Kick off times will vary for each team on a weekly basis)

End Date: May 2022 

Rate of pay: £10-20 per game (rate of pay depending a league of game)

Sport Coaches (Level 2)

Do you hold a level 2 sport coaching qualification? We are on the look out for those with a passion for sport and coaching to be part of our social sport programme here on campus. Sessions are open to all students across a range of sports including Netball, Badminton, Basketball, Volleyball and Cricket. So, if you have a level 2 multi sport qualification or in any of the sports listed then get in touch for further information!

Rate of Pay: £20ph

Paid Student Internships

 

Our student sport internships fall within our Student Sport Leadership programme and are designed to fit around a students studies and help students help develop the skills and expoerience required for employment within the sector. Internships include working within the academic year (October - May) alongside a mentor who will support them along their journey. Health & Fitness Internship

As a Health and Fitness Instructor Intern at Northumbria Sport you will be part of a dynamic team that will deliver an exceptional student experience in health and fitness helping individuals meet their personal goals whilst delivering a wide range of health and fitness related activity. You will gain experience alongside qualified instructors and you will have the opportunity to lead where qualifications allow. Social Sport Activator Internship

Northumbria Sport are recruiting 4 Social Sport Activators , to assist with the delivery of our fantastic Social Sport programme. The Social Sport offer aims to target students who traditionally have not engaged with Northumbria Sport through a flexible offer that encompasses a range of fun engaging Sports and activities. Performance Analysis Internship

The Northumbria Sport Performance Analysis Intern positions offer you the chance to get involved in the delivery of performance analysis for performance sport teams and be a valued member of the team’s support network. There is the opportunity to work with a number of sports who play in the BUCS Leagues to record and monitor sporting performances with the aim to improve performance. Clean Sport Advisor Internship  

All sporting participants have the right to compete in Clean Sport. Northumbria University adopts the UK Anti-Doping and World Anti- Doping Agency (WADA) position that cheating, including doping, in sport is fundamentally contrary to the spirit of sport, undermining the otherwise positive impact of sport on society. As a student athlete at Northumbria University we aim to ensure student athletes are offered the necessary level of education and support in order to understand their responsibilities as an athlete. Northumbria Sport have qualified Anti-Doping Educators who can deliver workshops and answer questions on anti-doping. In order to increase awareness and have a wider support network, we are appointing a Clean Sport Intern to support the promotion of clean sport to students and staff. Sport Nutrition Advisor Internship

This is an exciting opportunity for students to compliment academic study with applied sports nutrition. This position will play a key role within the Northumbria Sport athlete support network, working with athletes, coaches, and other key personnel to ensure athletes and teams are educated around the key elements of sport nutrition. As part of this you will work alongside the Northumbria Sport Nutritionist to support our student athletes to lead a healthy lifestyle and fuel an optimal performance. Football Development Officer Internship

The League Development Officer (LDO) internship is the perfect opportunity for someone looking to pursue a career in sport management, sport developmentor sport marketing. You will play an active and hands-on role in the organisation and delivery of the Northumbria University Intra-Mural Sport Leagues, allowing students to take part in activity after COVID-19. Media and Journalism Sport Internship

Northumbria Sport would like a Communications Assistant to work predominantly on written communications including website news articles and blogs, email, copy for promotional materials and social media content.The Intern will also help re-establish the Northumbria Sport Media Team. Conducting match reports of weekly BUCS fixtures and coordinating volunteers to attend these. In addition, the Intern will explore and incorporate the use of different media into the team – Audio, Visual etc
