Volunteer of the Month

Each month we will be recognising a Northumbria Sport Volunteer & Intern for their outstanding contribution to the programme.

Each winner will automatically be nominated for the highly recognised Volunteer & Intern of the year award at our annual Sports Ball as well as going in to a prize draw to win a £100 Amazon voucher!

Nominations will be made by hosts of the programme each month.

January's Winner  - Congratulations to Sam Bolderson (Team Northumbria Strength and Conditioning Volunteer)

We were very proud to announce Sam as the well deserved first winner of this award! Nominated by his Host, Nick Ridgeon (Head of Strength and Conditioning) here are a few reasons why Sam was nominated:

"Sam has been completing closer to 10 hours a week (140 hours so far)! In this time he is coaching netball (2+3), para-swimming and rugby union (M2), developing training plans and completed relevant research. On top of this he has pro-actively undertaken a Strength and Conditioning placement at Gateshead College and the feedback I have received from the staff there has been very positive.

Sam has thrown himself into coaching and all other aspects of Strength and Conditioning and as a result has developed his communication, demonstration and group organisation skills and is a much valued member of the Team Northumbria S+C team. Sam was appointed as a Strength and Conditioning volunteer in October but due to his hard work, commitment and following a successful application and interview has been made an Intern for semester two."
