Northumbria University is the leading University for Rugby League holding the current title of BUCS Championship winners for 2017-2018.

Northumbria’s Head of Rugby League, and also Newcastle Thunder’s Head Coach, Jason Payne leads the programme. With student athlete development the primary focus, players benefit from this strong partnership between University and Club rugby that offers student Rugby League players the support needed to develop and progress through this direct pathway into a professional game.

With a centrally based campus in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, a home ground of Kingston Park stadium and a direct partnership with professional club Newcastle Thunder, the Northumbria Rugby League programme provides students a high quality unique experience on and off the pitch which is second to none.
