Meet the Team

Sue Vout

Sue has worked at Northumbria University for 17 years and has been the University’s Sport Development and Engagement Manager for six years. She manages the North participation programme, student volunteering and internships and the Sport Academy. Sue also oversees health and safety and administrative processes across the department and coordinates University Sport’s strategic partnerships. In addition to this, Sue is Chair of the Northumbria Sport Foundation and is responsible for the strategic development of the organisation, the fundraising strategy, the development of student-led community projects and the Foundation’s relationship with the University.

Brogan O'Connor

Brogan is Sport Services Assistant at Northumbria University, responsible for the delivery of the Sport Academy, Supporters’ Club and the Netball Superleague community programme. Brogan works closely with students, staff members and local partners to help create new and exciting fundraising opportunities for the Foundation and to support students in the delivery of community programmes. Brogan is a recent graduate of Northumbria University and was the Student Sport President in 2015-16.

Kate Hansbury

Kate Hansbury is the Student and Staff Development Manager for Northumbria Sport. She is responsible for managing the Student Development Programme and shaping and developing opportunities for students to volunteer in sport in a wide variety of settings. Kate’s work is focused upon delivering a high quality student experience whilst working with partners and organisations to enhance student employability skills. Kate is also responsible for managing the Zambia IDEALS Project in which Northumbria University, as part of the Wallace Group of universities, sends students out to Zambia for 6 weeks over the summer to improve the lives of disadvantaged children through sport. Kate’s previous roles include Volunteer Development Officer for Active Cumbria and Further Education Sports Co-ordinator for Carlisle College.
